The computer must be restarted before updating

I have been trying and trying and trying to re install Mc Afee Total Protection on one of my pcs, I have ran the Pre install, the uninstall, the MCRP and over and over restarted to get the same message "Computer must be restarted to finish this installation".

The security ; context the installer is running in must have write access to the ; installation directory.

Also, the directory must not exist or if it exists ; it must be a directory and not a file.

That VM can easily be destroyed when the testing is done...

The following covers my work especially on Firefox 17 ESR but could be applied to any newer version of FF.

I have been trying to pin Firefox to an older version (17.0.11 ESR) on both a Windows XP and Windows 7 host. I need to have Firefox stopped from updating itself.

I know that updates are recommended to prevent security issues, but in this case I have a dedicated environment where a virtual machine is running.

When this happens, you need to restart the computer before any other programs, such as Exchange 2016, can be installed.

Exchange Setup requires that all other installations have finished so it can verify that all of the prerequisites it needs to work properly have been installed.

Unfortunately, because the failed installation never cleans up these changes, the installation of Windows updates and other programs can be blocked.

You'll continue to see this error each time you run Exchange Setup if this happens.

When I try to install Microsoft visual studio 2015 it gives the error "Setup Blocked".
